A family man with 7 children, Brock was a police officer who was run over while on duty, and ultimately had to retire from the extent of his injuries. He had to endure numerous knee surgeries and constant rehabilitation. He was prescribed Opioids to deal with the pain. He also struggled with being retired, feeling ostracized and not a part of the brotherhood. He felt as if his team mates were moving on too quickly without him; and to cope with this difficult transition, he turned to self-medication.
Because the medication was being prescribed by his doctor, he felt justified in his need for them. Throughout this period, he went through a rough divorce and made poor decisions that cost him his family's trust. It took him a long time to finally gain insight as to what he really was - an addict, because he did not believe that he met the stereotypical image of a drug addict (at least, not the ones he had arrested in the past).
One day, realization sank deep, and he forced himself to undergo days of detox, suffering nausea, vomiting, uncontrollable diarrhea, sweats, tremors and constant shivering. He made it out at the end, but knew that he would never put himself through it again.
Brock was addicted to opioids for 10 years, and to porn for 30 years. Yet, with his indomitable willpower, ability to recognize his weaknesses and to have the support of his loved ones, he is now 12.5 years into his recovery. He runs an intensive outpatient treatment center which has been operating for the past 6.5 years.
He has helped thousands of men and women find recovery, and his program has an 88% sobriety rating. He owns The Blue Vase Recovery Center, Chase The Vase, Left Of Bang and now Victory Recovery, all geared at helping men and women recover and be the amazing people they can be.
Brock created "The Fix" which was a tv program/podcast played and produced at Show Low Tv. Tune in to his Agents of Recovery Podcast and listen to his journey. He has been on numerous podcasts this year, and consistently writes for Recovery Today Magazine, supporting their 5.0 section.
